Eno’s Pizza Tavern: a hidden Oak Cliff gem

Eno’s Pizza Tavern

What: pizza

Where: Oak Cliff (Dallas)

Many of you may be thinking, it’s not hidden, it’s just in Oak Cliff. Others may be thinking, yiiikes, Oak Cliff? Well, I’m here to tell you Oak Cliff isn’t half bad as many SMU students may think.

Nestled in a cute and cozy little pedestrian town sits Eno’s Pizza Tavern. So cozy that there’s a few rocking chairs on the outside. I had never been inside this part of Oak Cliff, so it was somewhat foreign to me, but I really felt I was on vacation somewhere. Somewhere away from Dallas.

The inside is large and open, complete with a big open bar with jars of bar snacks and a collection of homemade mugs hanging from the ceiling. Benches and wooden tables are plentiful–it’s just a great place to relax and be with friends.

I came with a large group (the You+Dallas team!) and the service was pretty good from what I can remember.

I ordered the veggie supreme pizza which came with tomato, bell pepper, mushroom, garlic, green onion, mozzarella and ricotta. The pizzas come thin and very homemade-tasting, but my pizza was a bit on the bland side. But I’m just going to hope that was just a one time thing.

For lunch they have an adorable menu “Keep Calm, More Pizza Is Coming” which basically means they have an awesome deal for lunch on Tuesdays-Fridays. For $9.99 you get a salad, drink and an endless amount of pizza. They have a rotation each day of 3-4 different types of pizzas, they come by your table with a whole pie of each, but you can only take one at a time. As soon as you’re ready for another piece, they’ll come by with another type of pizza. And their choices really piqued my interest…

Eno’s does pizza, but they also do sandwiches, pasta, salads and more. If you’re not feeling up to pizza (why are you at Eno’s, again?), you have other choices. And if you’re around for dinner, I dare you to try their “Eno’s Sundae Sack” for dessert. Chocolate, Blue Bell vanilla ice cream, marshmallow cream, fresh berries, pecans, hot fudge, graham cracker, cinnamon & sugar and whipped cream. WOW. I haven’t gotten to taste it yet, but I can’t imagine it being anything short of amazing.

If you have some time, explore Oak Cliff a little. You can walk around and find bars, shops and even a chocolate factory…which will be a blog post coming soon!
